Hi,

My name is Megha Menon, and I am an international student. After graduating from high school in 2002, I attended medical school in India. An undergrad degree is not required for enrollment into medical school there, and as such I was eligible.

The medical education in India is structured differently from that in the United States, where it is a graduate level degree. In India, The M.B.B.S (Bachelors of Medicine and Bachelors of Surgery) is a medical degree received at an undergraduate level. The course comprises of 4.5 years of study and one year of obligatory hospital work after which the degree is conferred.

In February 2007, I completed the 4.5 years of studies. I opted for such a highly specialised field of field at an a very early age, as I have always had a strong desire to understand and help people. I wanted my education to equip me with the knowledge and means, by which I could work toward this goal.

While pursuing the medical degree in India, I realised that I was fascinated by the human mind and behavior. I studied psychiatry as part of the program, but I am more inclined toward dealing with human psychology outside a clinical set up, such as in an organisation/work-place.

I would like to apply to the M.A. program in Organisational psychology. I am not sure if I am eligible to do so. I would appreciate your assistance in this matter.

Thank you!

Thanks for the advice. Let me just say—this blog is great—and so very helpful in removing some of the stress behind applying to graduate school. I really appreciate TC admissions’ energy and desire to be helpful with important information available through so many different mediums. Keep up the good work, and I hope to see you around campus Fall 2008.
